  1. I think you guys may enjoy this video, it's more a long the lines of a documentary and features many interviews with the people behind I305. KD and CF definitely did an awesome job with this ride. It should be interesting to see what else they come up with in the next few years in there other parks. Does any one think SF may try to build some thing to compete with this ride? The last few years CF has really been taking an edge in US for thrill rides. I know SF want's to take the family friendly approach, but there going to eventually need to add some new big rides if they want to stay competitive.
  2. Well I see another problem. I think an I phone like application that would give you all type of park info would be great. Give people a map, times of shows, wait time, closed rides, and other useful information. The problem I see is, do you really want to entice people to bring there phone on a ride?
  3. I attended a air show at jones beach over memorial day weekend. I made an almost 19 min long video from it and would like to share it all with you. Link to video If this is in the wrong section I apologize in advance, I think this is where this would go. I hope you guys enjoy it, I have to say I find air shows awesome
  4. Awesome trip report I must say. It has to be one of the most entertaining PTR I have scene in a while, and I really liked the pictures. While I am no HRP buff I got to see allot of parts of the park I don't remember seeing before, so thanks. It's a shame to see this park so empty. I really hope this park makes it, I really think it has allot of potential. Just needs to get the people through the door.
  5. I am not sure if what you plan to do after college. But with animation skills like that, animation might be a good fit for you. Very interesting idea about the MagLev I am not sure how price efficient MagLev technology be at this time. But if they can get the price down (not sure exactly how expensive it is, but I have heard its pricy) I could see parks potentially using it in rides. It would have to give a smother ride, wont have to pay for wheel replacement, or other wheel related replacements (springs shock absorbers and so on), and less moving parts the less things that can go wrong. If you enjoy modeling and animation (especially elated to rides) take a look at the theme park builder 3D project.
  6. Not sure if this could be built in real life. But I have to say nice idea. Its definitely creative, and I really liked the animation. What program did you make the animation in?
  7. Over the years I have come up with a few ideas for new coaster types. An Inverted wooden coaster was one of them. I for one think, if done right (which are the key words) It could provide for a very cool ride. I have to say that whip does look really great idea.
  8. This might make for an interesting topic, of what strange things have you convinced people of, while at a park. I went to a water park once with some friends. There was a slide name jaws. Well we got one of my friends to believe that the reason it is named jaws, is that when you hit the pool at the end of the slide, there is a shark in it, and you have to swim out of it as fast as you can to try and avoid getting attacked. He was basically freaking out about it the whole time we were on line, and thought we were crazy for risking getting attacked by a shark.
  9. I am not sure if its been mentioned, but does any one know what's with the new support style?
  10. Thanks to those of you who have provided me with links. This I feel is part of the problem, the information is so scatted its hard to find. I have been following coasters pretty close since 2005 and I am stile finding resources I never new existed. Which is part of the gap I would hope the database I had in mind would help to close. I am definitely interested in seeing what you have in mind. While forums have there purpose they make displaying and finding information complicated. The information you want can easily get lost in a topic especially when they get really long. Which is why the database idea I had would be actually web pages not just forum post. I think it would be really nice if you could auto pull the PTR out of the forum and display them on an actually web page. Definitely all share you opinions, this topic was never started with an agenda in mind. If TPR can create features that help close this gap that would be an awesome thing. Any ideas that come out of here will only benefit the coaster community
  11. I hope his html skills are better than his spelling. However, I for one do not want my photos posted on another site. No ones pictures are going to be taken, it will all be based on the user giving us permission to use there content. Chancres are the person who has the content will add it to the database themselves. This is why I am asking for who might be interested in donating content, since I don't have content my self, and steeling others would cause copyright problems. Also who in there right mind would just steel some one else's work, people do need to respect each other As for my spelling, I know it sucks, I have a language based learning disability. I use spellcheck and stuff but it does not cache it all and there is not much else I can do. As for web design, I know html, css, java script, and php. I also worked with databases, custom content management systems, forum site integration, xml, rss, ajax, and a few other things here and there.
  12. Probably most people how are pretty regular here at TPR have seen the large amount of classic amusement park information that has been posted here. Including pictures, post cards, park maps, videos, links to youtube video, the list can go on. One thing that has hit me though is while there is all this great information its hard to search, and if you are new you might not see it at all. This gave me an idea, what about creating an on line archive / database of classic amusement park information. We can use text information, pics, home made videos, (not sure about footage from tv shows cause of copy write problems. Rob would you know more abbot this?) We could link to youtube videos of interest. Now my question is what do you guys think about the idea? Also would those of you with the history, would you be interested in submitting it to an amusement park history database? I cant provide information to the database, since I really don't have any to share, but I can provide the resources to make the database a reality, coding it, hosting it, running it, and whatever else is needed. I am really interested on hearing what you all think about this idea. I think its somthing many coaster enthusiast will find interesting and enjoy. Also please don't take this as advertising. Nothing has been created for this yet, its all ideas at this point.
  13. Thanks for the pictures this ride starting to look like it should have some really nice parts to it.
